Warner Brother pictures are going to be releasing Black Adam this October. It’s the much-anticipated latest DC Extended Universe film. The US opening will be today, Friday, October 21st, though it’s already made its world premiere in Mexico City on Monday, October 3rd. So far it’s the 11th movie released in the DC Extended Universe.
The 2-hour-4-minute Black Adam movie was directed by 48-year-old, Spanish-American director, Jaume Collet-Serra. The storyline of the movie itself is set after the events of the Justice League. Black Adam tells the story of Teth-Adam, who’s played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The protagonist is a man and anti-hero from Ancient Egypt. Though he was born into slavery, he now fights crime with powers bestowed upon him by the Gods.
Though he was imprisoned for a long time and then freed, BlackAdam joins the Justice Society of America. This is a team of superheroes originally conceived by Sheldon Mayer and Garden Fox back in the Golden Days of Comic Books (1938-1956). In fact, Black Adam is a relatively old character, having first appeared in Fawcett Comics as a one-time villain in 1945. He was later to be revived by Marvel Comics in the 70s after DC Comics acquired the licencing rights to Shazam!
Suicide Squad And The Peacemaker
We saw Emilia Harcourt, played by Jennifer Holland, return as the Peacemaker. She’s an agent who works with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and is in both the Suicide Squad and The Peacemaker, with both being directed by James Dunn. Black Adam also stars Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Shahi, Aldi’s Hodge as Hawkman, Marwan Kenzari, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell and Bodhi Sabongui.
The Promo Tour Kicks Off For The Rock
The leader of the Justice Society of America is Hawkman who has the power of flight thanks to his metal wings. The first JSA leader was The Flash who was then followed by the Green Lantern. Dwayne Johnson, who is the former NCAAF player and World Wrestling Entertainment star, flew to Mexico City for the release of the film. No Chinese Release For Black Adam
Cinelytic pictures a $328 million box office for Black Adam and a $423 million gross for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, with Black Adam turning over $70 million in its opening weekend. We should point out that Black Adam and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have no Chinese release. As such, this could seriously affect their box office potential. On November 11th we will see the new James Cameron’s Avatar – The Way of Water make its worldwide premiere on December 14th.
